June 2025 Show and Share

Every month our guild enjoys a program or activity to enhance our knowledge of techniques and strategies for improving our quilting OR to learn about new fabrics, machine care, pattern designs, or quilt styles. However, we don't learn only via informative programs, but also from each other, making Show and Tell a highlight at each meeting.  Enjoy the "Shares" that members brought to the June meeting!

-Barbara Wright creative a delightful quilt, reminding us to Be Loving, Be Positive, Be Kind, along with additional short lessons for living. Just gazing at this quilt evokes a warm feeling.

-Cim Roesoner's quilt in terra cotta, black and white was a challenge in angles. For added interest, he added a moon in the center of the quilt back. Well done, Cim!

-Dona Koster has added to her Christmas decor with this sweet poinsettia centered table runner, with the added interest of pointed ends.  She also appliqued the sweet little quilt reminding us to "Dream Big." Yet another Dona creation is a stylish sewing caddy with a hinged framework. "Sew" clever!

-Donna Johnson's fondness for kitties is evident in her Colorful Cats quilt.

-Jody Cheatum was busy with a Disney theme, creating a Minnie Mouse quilt and a scrappy Minnie Mouse added as embellishment on the back of a black jacket.

-We have heard of artists doing self portraits. But quilters? Yes, Laura Solter has done a beautiful job of this legacy quilted self portrait. Impressive!

-Lynn Colquhoun, our Quilt of Valor chair, shared two new Quilts of Valor, one designed with a collection of bias stars, the other celebrating freedom with a Statue of Liberty Center.

-Melody Day's Quilt of Valor is striking with its log cabin blocks set around a center star. Melody also was busy fussy cutting pieces for a Sunflower Collage wall hanging. Don't you love the way those sunflowers pop against the black background?

-New member Nancy Rezac's quilt is a celebration of Kansas with our state symbols and prairie images. Very nice, Nancy!

-Phyllis Norton shared a delightful Lucky Star quilt in pastels and scrappy quilt made with muted earth tones set in a variety of block sizes. This looks very cozy, Phyllis.

-Ronda Willard's hand stitching on this Hardanger Embroidery table topper is exquisite. Made for her mother, Ronda made up the pattern and size of the white and gold piece to specifically fit her mom's table. Be sure to zoom in to see the detail on this beauty!

-Ruth Prescott will be ready for fall with her cheerful and colorful quilted collection of fall leaves.

-Sharon Johns has been quilting for others. The delightful churn dash quilt in pink, green, and white was made for her sister.  Sharon has also been making Quilts of Valor to honor our veterans: one with eagles in the center panel and one with a series of flags in the center.

-Susie Clayton's quilt is a personal quilt of love. The red, white, and blue nine-patch blocks were made from her Dad's shirts. This will be a treasured sentimental piece.

-Vickie Greenwood has been busy completing two Block of the Month quilts that feature blocks from a variety of patterns, in earth-toned colors and reds and creams. BOMs are a great way to learn about different block and styles and their history.  Vickie also made a fun race car themed quilt that a little person will be delighted with.
