Konza Prairie Quilters' Guild |
Jody Cheatum, with the assistance of Lynn Colquhuon, treated the guild to a fun Holiday Party focused on a Gingerbread Boy/Girl theme, and there were oh, so many gingerbread reminders all around!
Guild members brought so many treats that extra tables had to be assembled. The table decor and games were delightful, with members sharing quilting stories based on a roll of the dice. A roll or two of the dice also determined who went home with the centerpieces, minus the spool ornaments which were gifted to all participants.
We enjoyed a fun new take on the Left, Right, Center Game that featured two gifts boxes at each table that were passed left and right as Jody shared a quilting story involving directions. Members "left" holding the gifts at the end of the story claimed them as prizes.
The highlight was a Sewing Price is Right with contestants competing to guess the price of the sewing-related objects displayed by Jody. The first round had three guild members from each table competing, followed by a narrowing of the field in a semi-final contest, and of course, a final round. Each participant won a prize in each round, with Elaine Shannon taking the title of Price is Right Champion in the final round. So many wild guesses reflects that many of us are unaware of current sewing tool prices, but it was sure fun to guess!
Next up was the drawing for the 2024 Opportunity Quilt.
Over $565 was earned from ticket sales among guild members and at various community events throughout the year. Chairperson Ginny Petersen reported a total of 1075 tickets were included in the drawing, a combination of tickets sold and gratuity tickets included in guild membership. In fact, it was member, Dona Koster, who was shocked and delighted to win this beautiful quilt made by Ginny, shown with Dona in the photo gallery.
Finally, the cute Gingerbread figures featured on the welcome table were awarded in another drawing. Cindy Kahrs, Barbara Wright, and Betty Frank each claimed a ginger figure to brighten their homes.
