Konza Prairie Quilters' Guild |
December Show and Share
Since we did not have Show and Tell in November due to the Quilt of Valor program, we had a wonderful parade of quilts shown by members this month.
-Outgoing President Vevia Beaulieu displayed her completed 2024 BOM. Each month Vevia resized the pattern to 36% of its original size and designed this unique arrangement of "Be My Neighbor." What a great work of art and creativity.
-Lois Hoerner was the Queen of Quilting this month! She has six daughters, has made queen-sized quilts for all of them, and shared five of them with us. Her patterns included churn dash, disappearing nine patch and pinwheels, a Hampton Court variation, stacked blocks, and a giant snowflake quilt for the daughter who loves the snow. Lois, these are beautiful gifts that will be treasured by your family members for decades!
-Lynn Colquhoun's cute baby quilt will go to a special little person in the family of Lynn's friend.!
-Allison McCullough is adding some festive charm to her table with her trees and offset plaid table topper.
-Lori Gray's grandchildren are going to be delighted with their quilts made from Elizabeth Hartman patterns. Her three-month-old granddaughter may not appreciate it now, but she will love tummy time on and snuggling with her puppy quilt. Her three-year-old brother will definitely enjoy his farm animal quilt.
-As a beginner, Lana Arpin's daughter designed, made, and quilted this unique Notebook Page quilt. Can you guess what her profession is?
-Donna Johnson also tackled an Elizabeth Hartman pattern, making this delightful Cats in Pajamas quilt. I love cats and am charmed by this quilt.
-Kathy Garvin's floral quilt was created with the use of multiple quilting techniques, including paper-piecing, applique', interlocking scallops, free motion quilting, and walking foot quilting. Well-done, Kathy!
-Janet Finney used a Villa Rosa pattern to make her patchwork of shades of blue and green with offsetting light squares. This looks just right for curling up on the couch with a book or to watch a movie.
-What would you make for a granddaughter who loves mermaids? Sharon Johns complied with the request and made this creative mermaid sleep sack...oh, how cozy!
-Nancy Hubbard's quilt features pastel mariner compasses with yo-yo centers and a negative space border. Nancy has hand-quilted this entire quilt.
-Michelle Chrisler wins an award this month for retrieving, restoring, and finishing a 33-year-old UFO. This Crown of Thorns quilt was begun with a church group but never completed and now has will have a wonderful new life donated back to the church for someone in need.
