February 2025 Show and Share

One of my favorite aspects of Show and Share is seeing the variety of projects that members have been working on.  We have so many talented textile artists, crafting beautiful creations!

-Carla Williams embellished her baskets with two punch needles liners. Just imagine how many times that needle had to go in and out to make these detailed classic designs.

-Carol Pacey's grandson was honored with this hanging made for his Confirmation.  Beneath the stained glass window and the dove, Carol added, "Receive the Holy Spirit."

-Debbie Conrad's quilt is titled Make New Friends, but the technique she used is called a Peeled Onion Quilt.  Can you see layer over layer in this eye-catching quilt?

-Dona Koster used needle-turned applique' in creating her quilt  Burroughs and Boughs, featuring a parade of bunnies with a couple of hundred perfect needle-turned circles. I am in awe of anyone who can achieve such perfection with this skill.

-Donna Johnson's Vintage Valentine features an embroidered center surrounded by a patchwork border with appliqued hearts.

-Janet Finney is another multi-talented creator, showing first her quilled Easter Basket quilt with a lavender border and adding a tribute to Eloise Brown for inspiring her to learn quilling.  Janet's second design was a quilt made for the night guild's Challenge, in which she used up every bit of some leftover fabric from another favorite quilt. She is this month's Scrappy Queen!

-Kathy Garvin's aqua, lavender, and purple quilt is her finished project from the 2023 BOM. This turned out to be a lovely, soothing quilt. Kathy also shared a cheerful, multi-colored quilt, set on point that she is donating for a QFTH.

-Mary Jo Hawkinson made a Kansas Troubles quilt for her son's 40th birthday, but then also has been recording family history in calendars.  Even after the year is past, the legacy of family events will live on.

-Michelle Crisler is also reaching into the past, prodding her adult son to finally choose favorite shirts and designs to go into t-shirt quilts, one commemorating first his high school activities and a second one devoted to college experiences.  These too will be family treasures.

-Montika Allen-Atkinson had fun making this colorful quilt with a horizontal focus by simply sewing together a jelly roll. Montika's quilting skill is not as evident on the front as the back, but her free motion, long arm quilting adds unique interest to her quilts.
