January 2025 Show and Share

Wowzers! The machines have been humming as KPQG members stitched up a wondrous amount of beautiful objects to share at our January meeting. Here we go...remember that you can click on the thumbnail to view the full image of each item in the gallery.

-Alison McCullough's Christmas quilt shows how a varied pineapple pattern can be a creative approach to adding dimension and color to a seasonal quilt. Not only that, but Alison's long arm quilting talent is also evident in this quilt.

-Barbara Wright has created Grandma's Bunnies to gift to a friend whose granddaughter loves bunnies.  This will be a special cozy treat for this child at her grandmother's home.

-Carla Williams' whimsical snowman quilt is aptly titled The Four Seasons of a Snowman.  That accent fabric and linear quilting makes a perfect background.

-Debbie Conrad shows her support for the Riley County Falcons with the blue and white mascot quilt that she helped her granddaughter piece.  Debbie also shared  a quilt made with a sage and gold floral panel enhanced with two beautiful borders.

-Donna Dawson shared her small log cabin quilt that she completed with a charm pack.  This was a project from a 2024 workshop.  Donna also designed an eye-catching quilt of burgandies and blues that she collected during a Nebraska shop hop.

-Elaine Shannon showed her completed 2024 BOM project, choosing a 3 x 4 setting for her twelve blocks.  This was her first experience with quilt-as-you-go which contributed to making this a learning experience.  Elaine also shared her Tangled quilt, made with an Essential Gems Spotted jellyroll from Wilmington Prints, a fun and colorful project.

-Jana McKinley's vintage panel displays Santa as viewed through a series of window panes. This exudes such a sense of warmth as Santa makes his Christmas deliveries.

-Karen Spaeth's talent with creating wool applique' home accents is evident once more as she shared her latest small projects, a small Christmas table topper and a sweet bunny for the coming Easter season.

-Lana Arpin's Show and Tell takes us back a year to the 2023 BOM with her assembly of Starstruck blocks.  This is one of three that Lana created for herself and other family members.

-Lynn Colquhoun's bargello quilt was a joint project with her daughter, who lives in Juneau, Alaska.  Following the bargello workshop, Lynn had her daughter select fabrics; Lynn assembled the quilt; and her daughter quilted it under Lynn's guidance while she was visiting over the holidays.

-Michelle Crisler takes us back yet another year with her BOM quilt from the 2022 Birds of a Feather BOM series.  Michelle has embedded her paper-pieced quilts in a natural nighttime setting so that she could incorporate the rare night blooming cereus flower. She has this beautiful, but rare plant in her yard that only blooms once a year in her yard.

-Pam Russell was one of our 2024 BOM co-chairs, and she shared how she assembled her quilt with some pattern modifications that added a school, church, and beach house to her neighborhood. Beautiful, Pam!

-Patty Nelson's latest wool on cotton applique' project is a Dawn Hesse and Bonnie Sullivan sampler pattern that was offered as a BOM in 2023.  Once again, Patty has astounded us with her beautiful detailed work! Zoom in to admire the exquisite quilting and needle work.

-Rebecca Meyerkorth has made this three-yard quilt in pastels for her sister's granddaughter. What a great, great-aunt you are, Rebecca!

-Ronda Willard has made a lovely sage and cream applique' quilt for her great-granddaughter. Zoom in for a close up of all of the  beautiful needle-turned vines and flowers. Well done, Ronda!

-Ronna Robertson made this t-shirt quilt in honor of her husband's involvement with the Yard Art Classic Car Club in Manhattan. Ronna and her team will also make t-shirt quilts by request as a fund-raiser for the quild, so let her know if you need a t-shirt quilt to recognize a family member's achievements.

-Sharon Johns' granddaughter favors flamingos and her favorite colors are purple and lavender. It's no surprise then, that Sharon had to make a flamingo quilt to please this special family member. So cute!

-Sheila Ritchie also made a quilt for her granddaughter, this one in shades of blue and green with a white neutral. This gift was quilted by KPQG member, Montika Allen-Atkinson. Sheila also made a quilt as a gift to herself as a breast cancer survivor. What a great reason to gift oneself, Shelia!

-Whitney Short's collage quilt is a Laura Heine pattern that was chosen specifically as a gift for a daughter-in-law. The lovely florals in both the elephant and the background create a sense of calmness and strength to complement the wisdom for which elephants are a symbol.
